Voter registration deadline set for October 9

Register to vote before the deadline!

Attention, attention, all Panola College students: the last day to register to vote is Tuesday, Oct. 9.   To register you must fill out a voter application. To fill out an application, visit, then mail at least 30 days prior to the first election, which is November 6. However, there are certain requirements that must be met in order to be a registered voter.

In the state of Texas the criteria is relatively basic. The first requirement is that you must be a U.S. citizen. This is usually required for all forms of voting whether it be local, state, or federal. The next requirement is that you must be a resident of the county where you submit the application. Thirdly, you must be at least age 18 on Election Day. The fourth requirement is you must not be a convicted felon. Lastly, you must not have been declared by a court stating that you do not have the mental capability to vote.

If already registered, just make sure to visit your local voting poll on November 6; however, don’t forget your driver’s license for identification. Voters will cast their ballots at the polling place designated by their home address.

Voting is a privilege and a duty in the United States, and all adults are encouraged to exercise their right as citizens by going out and voting.
