The Panola College production of Kabuki Lady Macbeth returned from the Texas State Festival on Thursday, Oct. 27, with 17 awards. This recognition included the Respondents and Director’s Award, which has the play in top consideration to attend the Regional Festival in 2017.

Theatre students who received Irene Ryan Acting Nominations include Sara Trahan, Julian Johnson and Joseph Alfred.

Students recognized for Meritorious Achievement awards from the Kennedy Center were Dramaturgy: Nikki Lawhom and Tristan Smith; Make-up and hair design: Kiki Woodson; scenic design: Tristan Smith; lighting design: Kylee Flanary; prop design: Emily Jolly; costume design: Laci Sepulvado; performance: Wyatt Windham; sound design: Braden Wood; directing award: Karen King; ensemble award for cast and crew.

“It is important to point out that only two plays are chosen to be considered for attendance at the Regional Festival and the region consists of six states with over 350 participating productions,” said Karen King, theatre professor. “Panola will be considered with 18 to 25 other schools to represent the region in spring 2017.”
