Student Spotlight: Tina Pardo

Tina Pardo is a perfect example of it never being too late to follow one’s dreams. Mother of three, ages 22, 16, 10, she worked many dead-end jobs to support her family. After struggling to pay all her bills and provide her family with what they need on minimum wage pay she began to feel it was not good enough. She decided to better her and her children’s lives by going back to school.

Tina began by getting her Certified Nurse Aid certificate, which this allowed her a better income while pursing her Medical Assistant Certificate. She has always felt the call to help others in need. Therefore, Tina wanted to pursue a career in Health Care. Now she is going back to school one more time to pursue a degree as an LVN.

Tina works a full time job at Truman W. Smith’s Children’s Center in Gladewater, Texas and is also a full time student at Panola College. She is also a mom and wife — all of this at 38 years old! Tina says it really is never too late to go back to school. She says her family is so very proud and supportive of her, and she is a great role model for her children.

Her advice to anyone wanting to further their education and career is “You are never too old to go back to school; never give up on your dreams. Always do what makes you happy.”
