Come have dinner with the ladies when the Panola College Drama Department presents “Steel Magnolias,” as the dinner theatre presentation on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22-23. A dessert matinee performance will be held on Sunday, Sept. 24. All performances will be presented in the Panola College Studio Theatre in the Q.M. Martin Annex.

Dinner will be served from 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 6:45 p.m. The Sunday desserts will be served from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m., with the show at 1:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $40 for adults, $35 for Panola College faculty, staff, students and seniors (65+), and $25 for children 12 and under. The dessert matinee price is $25 for adults, $20 for Panola family and seniors, and $15 for children 12 and under. The dinner menu includes salad, lasagna, Italian green beans, breadsticks, chocolate mousse, coffee or tea. The dessert matinee on Sunday will include an array of cakes, pies and cookies with coffee and tea.

Reservations are required because of limited seating. Groups of 10 or more receive a group discount.

Produced by special permission from Dramatists Play Service, Inc., this performance of “Steel Magnolias” is being directed by guest director Liz Hedges. The play’s author is Robert Harling.

“Steel Magnolias,” a classic story of love, laughter, and loss, is based on a true story. Starring in the play are Emmalee Tomaszewski, sophomore from Center, as Truvy; Taylor Foster, freshman from Jefferson, as Annelle; Ashlynn Stamps, freshman from Martinsville as Clairee; Sarah Funderburk, sophomore from Carthage, as Shelby; Jasmine Ryan, freshman from Martinsville as M’Lynn, and Jessica Bailey, freshman from Center, as Ouiser.

Heading up the production staff are Karen King, assistant director; Andrew Lindsey, stage manager; Lacie Sepulvado, costume design; Kassandra Escobar, light design; Kayla Brimer, props; Nathaniel Endsley, sound and crew construction. Julian Johnson hosts as emcee for the event. Prior to the evening dinner performances, the Panola Players will present 20 minutes of comedy sketches and music.
