Occupational Therapy Assistant Students are raising funds to attend a national conference in New Orleans in April 2019. The students and three faculty members hope to raise $18,000 so they can participate in the American Association of Occupational Therapy Assistants conference and expo.

The 2018 conference was held in Utah, but next year’s location in New Orleans is close enough so that Panola’s SOTA group can travel by bus. Costs will include the bus, a driver, hotel rooms and conference registration.

During this 4-day conference, the students will experience up-to-date technology, meet AOTA leadership, learn about new products, and learn from presentations and speakers about the OT profession. They will be able to bring home the information learned at this conference to the community and future patients.

Donations in any amount are accepted and appreciated. Find out more at this link: https://give.funderbolt.com/panola/sota

The SOTA volunteers participate throughout the year in community service projects including assisting with the Panola College Foundation’s Designer Purse Bingo event, build ramps for elderly and disabled individuals, and assist with a prom activity for special needs adults. If the group’s travel goal is not met, the funds collected will be used for these existing community service projects.
