The Panola College Student Government Association held its first meeting on Thursday, Sept. 7. SGA begins the new year under a new Constitution and with five returning officers: President Ryan Hamilton, Vice President Melissa Crooks, Secretary Julie Hernandez, Treasurer Alex Lavender, and Parliamentarian Andres Leon. SGA has one officer vacancy in the position of reporter.

During the assembly, SGA members voted to continue to hold weekly meetings at 4 p.m. each Thursday in the Murphy-Payne Community Room of the M.P. Baker Library. The September 14 meeting will be a round table session with the Calendar and Appropriations Committee to generate a schedule of events for the fall semester.

“The gathering was small, but the outlook for the semester is promising,” said Brian Naples, Panola College government professor and SGA faculty adviser. “All Panola College students are welcome to attend and participate in SGA.”
