Ponies end baseball season

Great year, Ponies!

The Ponies traveled to Beaumont to participate in the 2019 Region XIV baseball tournament. The Ponies went 2-2 on the week.

Game 1 on Mother’s Day was an instant classic. Down by a run in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs, the Ponies had back to back extra base hits to tie the game and would go on to win in the bottom of the 10th walk off style.

Game 2 was a different story. The Pony bats came out swinging and put up 15 runs on 3 homeruns. Ponies would win game 2 and advance to semi finals.

The 2-0 teams squaring off were Panola and Navarro. It was a close game and the Ponies had many opportunities but couldn’t cash in with runners on base. The Ponies dropped game 3 by a score of 5-2.

After losing to Navarro, the Ponies needed to win 3 straight to win the regional and the task is very hard. The final game of the season for the Ponies ended in a 7-1 loss to Blinn.

“An incredible season it was. The Ponies finished 39-16 on the year and made a deep run in the postseason. Thanks for the support and thanks to the sophomores for two great years,” said Todd Shelton, Head Baseball Coach.
