The Panola College Jazz Band and Pipers joined their musical talents on Tuesday, April 3 for a “Sundaes and a Song” concert in the Frances B. Ross Ballroom.

The program started with the Pipers singing “Love Will Keep Us Together.” Next, the Jazz Band performed “Basin Street Blues” featuring Esmeralda Acosta on flute and Savana Hanaway on piccolo. The Pipers sang “Mack The Knife” and “When I Fall in Love,” followed by the band with “Blues March,” featuring Josh Wood on trumpet and Whitney Thomas on tenor saxophone. “April in Paris” showcased the talents of Urias Quetzala on trombone and Josh Wood on trumpet.

The Pipers returned to the stage with “I Love Rock ‘n Roll Medley,” “Seven Bridges Road,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” with soloists Hunter Moon and Nicole Painter. Maggie Sims was featured on trumpet for the band’s “Come In From The Rain.” Soloists Lily Allphin, Shelby Brown, Nicole Painter and Kacia Johnson performed in “This Is Me,” from The Greatest Showman.

The band wrapped up the show with “Mas Que Nada,” featuring Cassie Orbaugh on alto saxophone, and “Night Train,” with Maggie Sims on trumpet.

The Panola Pipers are directed by Sandra Bauer, professor of vocal music. Singers include Funminiyi Alabi, Nigeria; Lily Allphin, Henderson; Shelby Brown, Tatum; Ahmadreion Casel, Jacksonville; Emma Harden, Lindale; Lauren Harris, El Paso; Shannon James, California; Kacia Johnson, Tatum; Hunter Moon, Beckville; Pamela Nicole Painter, Marshall; Mia Sartor, Carthage; Jame’Cia Taylor, Georgia, and Sydnee Taylor, Carthage.

The Panola College Jazz Band is directed by Dwaine Hubbard, professor of instrumental music. Musicians include: flute: Esmeralda Acosta, Center, and Savana Hanaway, Carthage. On saxophone: Kassi Orbaugh, Carthage; Elijah Johnson, Shelbyville; Whitney Thomas, Center; James Lilly, Jasper, and Dakota Brown, Marshall. On trumpet: Josh Wood, Carthage; Maggie Sims, Center; America Cabriales, San Augustine, and Sarah Allen, Henderson. On trombone: Urias Quetzala, Garrison; Delaina Truitt, Center; Jaqui Alejaldre, Center; Cole  Donald, Carthage, and Colby Taylor, Carthage.

On drums: Nicklaus Powell, Shelbyville, and Michael Iwalesin, Lagos, Nigeria. On piano: Carrie Hudman, Cleveland. On guitar: Alexis Barlow, Center. On bass guitar, Branton Reeves, Beckville.
