Find out more about free, intensive CNA training. Information sessions will be held in Marshall and Center on August 27.

Panola College will host information sessions to discuss the new Certified Nurse Aide Academy Elite,
which helps students earn their Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) for free.

The information sessions will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Panola College Marshall Center in Marshall and again at 5 p.m. at the Shelby College Center in Center.

“This academy is funded through a grant, and will provide intensive CNA graining and continuing education certificates. We are working to finalize the dates, but this 10-week course will run from September through November,” said Laura Wood, Marshall College Center director.

The sessions will explain eligibility requirements to participate in the new CNA Academy Elite and what it will provide for students.

Nurse aides provide basic care, help patients gain and maintain maximum functional independence, provide safety and preventive measures, and work as part of the overall health care team. Nurse aides may work in hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health, physicians’ offices, or they may work as private sitters.
