Panola College to host collegiate rodeo

Panola College will host the first Southern Region Rodeo of the year on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 27-28, at Bar None Cowboy Church Arena in Tatum.  Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and the slack will begin Friday and Saturday morning at 9 a.m.  No admission will be charged.

Over 400 cowboys and cowgirls will be competing in saddle bronc, bareback riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, bull riding, goat tying, barrels, and breakaway calf roping.

The Southern Region consist of the following schools:  Panola College, Hill College, McNeese State University, Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M University, Northeast Texas C. C., Wharton County Jr. College, Texas A &M University-Commerce, Trinity Valley C. C., Southwest Texas Jr. College, Louisiana State University-Alexandria, and Stephen F. Austin State University.
