On November 8, the Panola College Green Jackets and Student Government Association hosted the 6th Annual Veterans Day Dinner. Veterans and guests were treated to a program and dinner in the Frances B. Ross Ballroom of the Charles C. Matthews Foundation Student Center.

Sponsors for the event included the Panola College Foundation, First State Bank & Trust Co., and Flag of Honor sponsors.

The Panola County Sheriff’s Department performed the Presentation of Colors to open the evening, followed by students from the Panola College Chorale singing the National Anthem. Dinner music was provided by the Panola College Jazz Band.

Colonel Ron Franks served as guest speaker. In the audience was Cpt. William C. Slaughter, a veteran of World War II, who, at age 96, was the oldest veteran in attendance.

The Veterans Day Dinner has become a tradition at Panola College as a way to show appreciation for their service to the United States.
