M.P. Baker Library to celebrate Banned Books Week

The M.P. Baker Library will celebrate Banned Books Week September 24 to October 30.

The M.P. Baker Library will celebrate Banned Books Week with a display that will include posters of 2019’s “Most Challenged Books and Top 10 Most Famous Banned Books of all Time,” as well as the Library staff’s favorite banned books.

According to the ALA (American Library Association), Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. It spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community – librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types – in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.

The display will be available in the M.P. Baker Library from September 24 to October 30, 2020. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular operating hours. For additional information, contact the Library at 903-693-2052 or [email protected]
