Five players earn post-season recognition

Congratulations on a great season!

Five players on the 2016-2017 Panola College Men’s Basketball Team earned post-season awards.

Tope Arikawe, #20, a sophomore from Nigeria, was named to the First Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference. Arikawe is 6’8″ and had 11.7 points per game with 8.4 rebounds per game. Arikawe has committed to play for University of North Texas.

Devyn Wilson, #10, a sophomore from Brooklyn, N.Y., was named to the Second Team All-Conference, and Region 14 All-Tournament Team. Wilson is 6’4″ and had 13 points per game with 3.6 assists per game.

Eric McGill, #4, a sophomore from Memphis, Tenn., earned Honorable Mention All-Conference and Region 14 All-Tournament Team. McGill is 6’3″ and had 11.6 points per game with 5.6 assists per game. McGill has committed to play for Southern Illinois.

Marlon Taylor, #3, a freshman from Mt. Vernon, N.Y., is an Honorable Mention All-Conference player. Taylor┬áis 6’6″ and averaged 10.7 points per game with 7.1 rebounds per game.

KJ Byers, #1, a sophomore from Charlotte, N.C., is an Honorable Mention All-Conference player. Byers is 6’7″ and averaged 7.1 points per game with 2.9 blocks per game.

“We had high expectations this year for our group. We were picked high in the pre-season and we lived up to our expectations,” said Head Coach Grant McMillan. “It was a special year, and it was worth every minute of hard work that we put in.”
