Chorale’s spring concert a success

The Panola College Chamber Singers and Chorale performed a spring concert on Tuesday, April 12, in the Q.M. Martin Auditorium. Directed by Sandra Bauer, professor of vocal music, the singers were accompanied by Judy Galetar and Ginger Cook on piano.

The Chamber Singers started the program with “A Dream within a Dream” by Gray, followed by “Dirait-on” by Lauridsen.

The Panola College Chorale performed seven pieces including “Come in from the Firefly Darkness” by Bernon, “The Moon is Distant from the Sea” by Childs, “Still wie die Nacht” by Bohm – arr. Sieving, “The Seal Lullaby” by Whitacre, “How the Sun Rose” by Gray, “A Flower Remembered” by Rutter, and “Set Me as a Seal” by Martin with Lily Allphin, soloist.

Members of the Panola College Chorale include Lily Allphin, La’Rose Ballard, Tarsheanna Bauer, Laniqua Bowman, Athalia Branch, Dakota Brown, Sharmetria Brown, Anne Buongiorne, Anna Crumbie, Janel Dunn, Mitchell Emeahu, Cade Foehner, Brianna Fuller, Shelby Gipson, Guillermo Gomez, Lorena Gonsalez, Laraysha Hall, Dwaine Hubbard, Jenna King, Valorie Konderla, Caleb LeJune, Destiney Miller, Aaron Nolan, Kyana Reagan, Samantha Reeves, Dillon Reynolds, Chris Rios, Mia Sartor, McCartney Satterwhite, Takyra Simpson, Samuel Slone, Rachel Strauss, Lauren Williams, Adam Witt, Chantel Woodard, Cheyenne Woodard, Montana Woodard, and Austin Wright.

Upcoming events for the Panola College music students include a recital by Chris Rios and Emily Ortiz at 7 p.m., April 14; a voice recital at 12:30 p.m. on April 21; an Instrumental Recital at 12:30 p.m. on April 28, and recital by Athalia Branch and McCartney Satterwhite at 7 p.m. on April 28.

To wrap up the semester, the Jazz Band will hold a “Jazz in the Quad” performance at 6 p.m. on April 26 (bring a blanket, lawn chairs and a picnic), the Panola Pipers will perform a special event called “Pipers Unplugged” in the frances Ross Ballroom at 7 p.m. on April 29, and the Panola College Band will perform in concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 1.
