Band supports members’ families

On Saturday, October 13, the Panola Jazz Band supported two of their own as they performed at a fundraiser for Tony Miller in Ore City, Texas.

Tony is the father of twins, Makayla (Education Major) and Destiney (Music Major) who play in the Panola Jazz Band.  Tony has been battling cancer for several years now.  About 100 people were at the event which was held at New Hope Baptist Church in Ore City.

The band played nine tunes including “Welcome to the Jungle,” “You’re Welcome,” “She’s Gone Away,” and  “L-O-V-E.”  Members of the Panola Jazz Band are Savana Hanaway, Whitney Thomas, Kassi Orbaugh, Elijah Johnson, James Lilly, Somali Fletcher, Martrevian Williams, Hernan Hernandez, Eder Nunez, Steven Sierra, Dakota Brown, Josh Wood, Maggie Sims, Makayla Miller, Kaleb Baker, America Cabriales, Sarah Allen, Brandon Renteria, Miguel Mendoza, Nicklaus Powell, Carrie Lilly, and Destiney Miller.

“I’m very proud of these kids for donating their time and talents to support someone who is a part of our family,” Dwaine Hubbard said.
