Panola Volleyball is proud to announce several Fillies received all-conference accolades this season for Region XIV-North.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Adams (Longview, TX) was named 1st Team All-Conference, while sophomores Barbara Sabino (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Cayman Sutton (White Oak, TX) were both  named 2nd Team All-Conference selectionsafter receiving the same award a year ago.

Adams has led Panola all year in kills per set with 2.36 and is third on the team in blocks per set with 0.82. She notched double-digit kills in 5 of 6 conference matches this season, including a season-high 17 kills on a blistering .483 hitting clip in the crucial road victory against Navarro. Adams also hit .300 or better in 4 of 6 Region XIV-North contests, including a 13 kill and .500 performance against TVCC to help the Fillies clinch a berth in the 2017 Region XIV Tournament.

Sabino was once again a dominant force at the net for the Fillies this season, coming in second on the team in both kills per set and total kills at 2.12 and 218, respectively. She was also second on the team in blocks per set with 1.17. Sabino notched 7 or more kills in 5 of 6 conference contests, including a 9 kill and .500 hitting performance against TVCC.

Sutton became the first setter in recent history to receive 1st or 2nd Team All-Conference recognition both years at Panola, earning another 2nd team nod as a sophomore. She leads the Fillies in assists with 644 on the year and 7.40 assists per set, tallying 30 or more total assists in 5 of 6 conference meetings. Sutton also leads the team in service aces at 0.25 per set and is fourth on the team in digs.

Rounding out 2017 All-Conference awards for Panola College, freshmen Rebecca Rabius (East Bernard, TX), Hannah Ramirez (Waxahachie, TX), and Audrey Slaten (Hallsville, TX) all received Honorable Mention recognition for their efforts in their debut season.

Rabius was second on the team in kills per set with 2.21, including a season-high performance of 16 kills at Tyler. Ramirez has recorded a team-leading 3.56 digs per set and notched 9 or more digs in 5 out of 6 conference outings, eclipsing the 20-dig mark twice in that span. Slaten finished third on the team in digs per set with 2.58 and posted 11 kills on an impressive .440 hitting percentage in the Fillies sweep at Navarro.

“Our team has depended on various people stepping up to lead us all season in what was an extremely tough conference schedule where each night was a dogfight,” said Fillies volleyball Head Coach Amber McCray. “It’s difficult to be depended on to anchor our team consistently, and the fact that these players managed to do so makes them very deserving of this recognition.”

Panola finished 2nd in Region XIV-North, a conference where all four teams spent time in the top 20 of the NJCAA polls all season. The Fillies also went on to finish as the Region XIV Runner-Up in the regional tournament hosted at Panola College last weekend, and will travel to Hutchinson, Kansas with a 25-6 overall record to compete in the 2017 NJCAA Division I National Championship tournament November 16-18.
