To most people who roam the Panola College campus, Emily Zabcik may seem like just a normal math professor, but what a lot of teachers and students don’t know is that she is far from just average.
“During high school and college, math was the only subject I seemed to get and do well at,” Zabcik said.
She teaches Calculus 2, college algebra, contemporary math, and math for elementary teachers 1 and 2.
Being that math was her best subject, she began to tutor students for extra income, and ended up pursuing a degree in math at UT Tyler.
“I like to help students ‘get it’ maybe for the first time,” Zabcik said. “I want to help students feel successful in a subject that many struggle with.”
Outside of her job at school, Zabcik is also a mother to a one year old, Jaclyn, and wife to John Henry Zabcik. She leads a women’s Bible study at Stillwaters Cowboy Church, where her family holds a membership.
“I love the Lord, and want to love His people,” Zabcik said. “We try to live a life of ministry whether at work or out in the community.”
Emily and her family stay busy between work and church.
“Among all this, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and cooking,” Zabcik said. “Many days our house is an open door, with people coming and going, but I love every minute of our crazy hectic lives.”
