Panola offers May, summer academic options

Panola offers May, summer academic options

Use your summer wisely! Take your prerequisites at Panola College.

Students looking for a quicker path to a degree should take advantage of the shortened semesters offered by Panola College during the Maymester and Summer I and Summer II semesters.

Registration has begun for Panola College’s Maymester which will begin on May 13.  The Maymester gives students the opportunity to get 3 hours during a 3 week period.

Registration has also started for the Summer I and Summer II semesters.  Summer I courses begin June 10. While the Summer II session will begin on July 11.  Both semesters are 4 week semesters.

“These shortened summer semesters provide students with an opportunity to get their college hours in 3 to 4 weeks instead of the traditional long fall/spring semesters of 16 weeks,” said Don Clinton, Vice President of Student Services. “Register now in order to save your spot in the classes!”

Early registration will begin April 24 for the fall semester. Those interested in attending should call 903-693-2038 to make reservations to meet with an academic advisor. Students not required or needing assistance from an advisor will be able to register online at www.panola.edu.

Students attending four-year universities who come home for the summer often enroll in core courses that are prerequisites for their  chosen major. These include college algebra, technical writing and others. Courses that are not offered on the Panola College campus may be taken through the Virtual College of Texas. Students who need those courses should visit with the eLearning department or log on to the Virtual College of Texas website.
