On Tuesday, February 12, Dr. David Kulhavy of Stephen F. Austin University, artist Charles Jones and musician Miki Lynn Fryar will be featured at a lunchbox lecture sponsored by the Panola College M.P. Baker Library.
Dr. Kulhavy will be speaking about the migration of the Monarch Butterfly and the biology of the Monarch Butterfly. The Monarch Butterfly became the Texas State insect by a 1995 resolution of the State Legislature.
Artist Charles Jones will discuss the process of creating prints for the book A Forest Insect Alphabet that includes a print of the Monarch Butterfly. Musician, Miki Lynn Fryar, will perform songs that are Dr. Kulhavy’s texts set to music by the Nacogdoches musician and recorded by the trio.
The presentation will be in conjunction with the exhibition A Forest Insect Alphabet on display in the Fay Allison Gallery. The exhibit will feature woodcuts drawn and cut by Master Printer Charles Jones. The program will begin at noon and is free and open to the community.
