After dodging winter storms that impacted other parts of Texas this winter, Panola County had sleet and ice on Tuesday, Feb. 11. The ice created hazardous road conditions, especially on bridges. Schools, including Panola College, closed early on Tuesday, and opened late on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Warmer temperatures are expected to prevail the rest of the week, reaching as high as 70 degrees by Saturday.
