Guillory, Spruill sign baseball commitments
Head Coach Todd Shelton stands with Matt Spruill, left, and Preston Guillory as they sign to play for D1 university baseball programs for 2014-15.
Two sophomore baseball stars from Panola College signed last week during the early signing period of the NCAA. Preston Guillory, a sophomore pitcher from Denham Springs, LA, signed with TCU. Matt Spruill, a sophomore infielder from Burke, VA, signed with Mississippi State University.
Spruill was an everyday starter last year as he spent most of his time at second base early in the year before he was moved to third base. He will join former Panola College baseball players Brett Pirtle and Nick Amaratti at Mississippi State. Pirtle and Amaratti started for the MSU Bulldogs last year at second base and catcher as they helped lead the Bulldogs to the NCAA College World Series.
Guillory was one of the top four starting pitchers for Panola last year and will be expected to lead the pitching corps this year. He was selected to the TXNMJCBCA All-Star team this fall.
