Need a study buddy — a four-legged, furry friend? Two gorgeous Golden Retrievers will be on hand at the M.P. Baker Library at 2 p.m. Monday and at 10 a.m. Tuesday. These “Therapet” dogs are specially trained to provide stress-relief. Their owner Gina Smith is participating in a nationwide effort to help relieve student stress during finals week.
Librarian Cristie Ferguson says the M.P. Baker Library will be open until midnight Sunday-Wednesday this week so students have somewhere to study. Sodexo will provide free coffee during the extended hours.
Ferguson said, “Several colleges and universities around the country have been offering the service recently and it’s been well-received. Some articles feature waiting lines of students wanting to pet the dogs. Instructors who need a break are also welcome to come enjoy these beautiful Golden Retrievers.”
