Fillies win four at TJC volleyball tourney

The Panola College Fillies push to 18-5 on the season after a very successful weekend at the TJC Invitational, playing four matches in a 24 hour span.

The first match of the day was a 5 set victory over reigning NJCAA DII National Champion Cowley County Community College, 25-21, 22-25, 22-25, 32-30, 15-9. The Fillies had four players in double digit kills. Kennedi Coleman led with 20, Haley Hampton added 13, J’Keisha Evans 12, and Nathali Chaves 10. Sabrina e Silva also contributed 8. Ana Kiso had a great match setting her way to a season high 57 assists. The defense got a huge lift with five players picking up double digit digs, Justine Luis led with 22 digs, Ali Akler added 15, Ana Kiso 14, Nathali Chaves 12, and Victoria Valdez 10.

Fillies swept the second match of the day against New Mexico Military Academy 25-18, 25-21, 25-16. Nathali Chaves and Kennedi Coleman led the offense with 10 kills each, and J’Keisha Evans contributed 9. Ana Kiso picked up 30 assists and had 14 digs.

Day two opened up with PC defeating Seminole State College in 4, 20-25, 25-13, 25-13, 25-13. Kennedi Coleman led the offense with 18 kills, Haley Hampton added 11, and Ana Kiso picked up 48 assists with 16 digs. Justine Luis and Nathali Chaves contributed double digit digs with 18 and 11 apiece.

In the second match of the day the Fillies swept Redlands 25-15, 25-20, 25-11. Nathali Chaves led with 10 kills and Ana Kiso picked up 32 assists. Justine Luis led the defense with 17 digs.

Panola College returns to action Saturday at Brookhaven in a tri-match with Vernon College and the host Brookhaven. Conference play resumes Wednesday, Oct. 16 at TJC.
