Fillies upset Blinn

 Panola College Volleyball proved once again to be a solid tournament team going 2-1 on the weekend; which included a victory over perennial power and eighth ranked Blinn College on their home court.

The weekend started with a sweep of Temple College 25-13, 25-18, 25-19. The Fillies were boosted by the all-around efforts of freshman Kennedi Coleman who contributed 5 kills, 3 solo blocks, 9 digs, and 2 aces. Ana Kiso had her first double-double of the season, dishing out 20 assists and picking up 12 digs.

Round two of tournament play proved to be challenge when Hill College swept the Fillies 18-25, 24-26, 19-25. J’Keisha Evans led the team with 8 kills and Ana Kiso had 25 assists.

The Fillies picked up a signature win against the tournament host Blinn College taking them down in 5, 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 19-25, 15-9. The trio of Kennedi Coleman, J’Keisha Evans, and Nathali Chaves led the offense with a total of 35 kills, each contributed double digit kills. Ana Kiso posted 45 assists and Justine Luis picked up 18 digs. The Fillies out blocked the much bigger Buccaneers 12 to 7 and kept them off balance all night with tough serves that led to 12 aces. This marks the first time since 2008 that the Fillies have defeated Blinn.

Panola College is now 7-2 on the season and opens conference play at Navarro on Wednesday night at 7:00pm.
