Students new to online learning who need assistance succeeding in their online courses now have a new option. Panola College’s office of eLearning announces its new Canvas Student Support Lab available starting fall 2013. Canvas is the online learning management system (LMS) used by Panola College for all online and hybrid courses. In addition, many face-to-face instructors enhance their courses with Canvas. Incoming freshman, non-traditional students, and anyone else who is struggling with managing their online coursework now will have access to face-to-face assistance in the Canvas Student Support Lab.
According to eLearning Dean Ann Morris, “I’m very pleased that we can offer this support. Any student whose instructor uses Canvas a little or a lot will get individualized or small group assistance. The goal of the Canvas Student Support Lab is to ensure a hands-on approach that inspires student success.”
Students who are new to online learning or that just need some one-on-one help navigating their Canvas courses are strongly encouraged to attend. Located in the upstairs computer lab of the M.P. Baker Library, the Canvas Student Support lab will be open Friday afternoons from 1pm-4pm and Sunday evenings from 6pm-9pm. For those who cannot make it to the library, virtual assistance and live chat support will also be available. The lab will be staffed by Kyle Cage, Coordinator of Instructional Support.
