College announces new website
Panola College soon will introduce a new website at www.panola.edu. While the site location (URL) remains the same, design and much content are new, according to Ann Morris, Dean of eLearning and Webmaster.
Migrating to the new website has been a college-wide effort led by Morris and Kyle Cage, coordinator of instructional technology. “Twenty faculty and staff, plus Dean Morris and I, have migrated thousands of web pages, documents, forms, photos and media to our new content management system OmniUpdate,” stated Cage, who only has been at Panola since August. OmniUpdate is a California-based company that provides web content management to higher education institutions exclusively.
Panola, whose enrollment has continued to increase while other institutions declined, is celebrating 65 years of serving students and the community. Only recently, it was awarded Honor Roll Status as A Great College to Work For by The Chronicle of Higher Education. In addition, the College has been recognized by the Center for Digital Education seven times as a Top Ten Digital Community College in the nation among colleges with less than 5,000 students.
Panola County voted to establish the college on June 14, 1947, and 55 students enrolled and began classes on January 19, 1948.
In addition to the new website, the institution also recently adopted all new logos which will be featured prominently as part of the new design. “Our plan is to roll out the new website December 14,” affirmed Morris. “We’re looking forward to that and continuing our celebration of 65 years of success.”
