Without a major and have no major idea? Not to worry you’re not alone.
It’s not uncommon for college freshmen to be uncertain about their major. There are ways to effective research a college major. First step would be the far simplest: talking to an adviser. Panola has advisors available for those students who seek help. For those still not convinced, your second option would be to analyze yourself during classes. Which class seems the most interesting? What’s your strongest subject? What are you passionate about? What’s a job you wouldn’t hate waking up to attend every morning? What kind of job would make you think, “ I enjoy going to work.”
Simple questions can help you take a big turn in your life. Curiosity won’t kill you. Panola offers plenty of elective classes that have a seat waiting for you. It won’t hurt you to register and take a chance to experience a particular field of study. By exploring your options, you have much more to choose from. Mix and match if you’d like. Your last option: research and dig deep. You use your cell phones and laptops daily so why not take few minutes of the day and search online careers, their description, education level, salary, etc.
One of the best websites to visit would be the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, http://www.bls.gov/. It will give you information needed if you find certain interest or if you just want to view the different careers available waiting for you.
Trying to figure out a major isn’t the easiest for some so take time and think about it, but also keep in mind time flies and taking too long will only be far more stressful.
